It is a town of medieval origin on the central-eastern coast of Sardinia, one kilometre from the beautiful Ogliastra Sea.
Around the village there are vegetable cultivations, citrus groves, olive groves and vineyards, while along the seven kilometres of coastline there are many catering establishments, welcoming sea and nature lovers and enthusiasts of free climbing, trekking and cycling.
The coast starts from the tourist village of Tancau and passes through the beaches of Pollu, Lido delle Rose, Iscrixedda and Isula Manna.
In front of the town beach is the islet of Ogliastra. This is a small archipelago of three islets of pink granite and red porphyry, typical of the Ogliastra sea. The largest islet is covered in vegetation and inhabited by cormorants, seagulls and Corsicans.
