Treasure of
Ogliastra located on the central-eastern coast of Sardinia.
Surrounding
the town is the Supramonte di Baunei,
the home of hiking, with trekking trails that start from the mountain and reach
the sea, and vertical walls for sport climbing. In particular, along the gully
that leads to the natural monument Pedra
Longa, a sharp pinnacle overhanging the sea.
There is
also the Golgo plateau, covered by a
dark basalt lava flow, standing out against the whitish background of the
surrounding limestone rocks.
From up
there, at an altitude of 630 metres, there is a breathtaking view from Gennargentu to the Gulf of Orosei.
The plateau
is famous for su Sterru, another
natural monument, Europe's deepest single-bay karst chasm.
