Barisardo: A Town in Constant Evolution Between History and Modernity
The territory of Barisardo extends over an area of approximately 4 square kilometers, a region that encompasses centuries of history and a fascinating urban evolution. Originally, the town center was a close-knit nucleus of dwellings, gathered around the Parish Church, the heart of community life. This area, now the core of the historic center, retains the charm of the past, with its narrow alleys, small inner courtyards, and ancient houses built with traditional stone and mud blocks.
Urban Expansion and the Vitality of the Present
Over time, Barisardo has experienced significant expansion, with the emergence of new districts that have gradually shaped the town's current appearance. Today, Barisardo is a lively and continuously growing center, extending along the entire valley nestled between the gentle hills of Su Pranu and Crastu, reaching north to the banks of the Rio Mannu. The State Road 125, known as the Orientale Sarda, crosses the town from north to south, serving as an important connecting artery and ideally dividing the town into two parts.
Beating Heart and Gateway to the Sea: Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Via Mare
Among Barisardo's main streets, Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Via Mare stand out. The former, the true beating heart of the town, is the meeting place par excellence, where social life takes place and shops, bars, and restaurants are concentrated. The latter, as the name suggests, is the road that leads to the sea, a path that accompanies residents and visitors to the beautiful beaches of the Barisardo coast.
